Double D: Dinner and Dessert Review

I love to try new recipes. That's probably why I have 232 (and counting) pins on my "I like to eat" food board on Pinterest. I'm sure my husband enjoys it as well. I recall him comparing Pinterest to video games once, but I rebounded that with, "Well, do you make me yummy dinners based on what you find on your games?" Yeah. I didn't think so. But he claims he's saving the universe, so I guess its comparable... (awkward silence).

Moving on! I had some pork chops I needed to use in the freezer, so I hopped onto my food board and found this recipe for crock pot pork chops and potatoes. I threw it in the crock pot on my lunch break and when I got home in the evening, the house smelled like Sunday dinner. Yummmm!
Here's what I found with the recipe:
I added 2cups of milk instead of just one, because I wanted the gravy to be a little more runny. It seemed a bit thick to me with just one, mind you it does get a thinner consistency when it cooked. I was still pleased with the consistency of the gravy when it was finished cooking with the extra milk.
I also used about a tablespoon of olive oil on the bottom of the crock pot, rather than the cooking spray. I can't stand using cooking spray- it gets into my lungs and makes me cough so hard! So, I don't love the thought of it in my food and use olive oil as an alternative.
Apart from these two things, I followed the recipe. If I had to give the recipe a grade based on a scale of 0-10, I give it a 10/10!  I would definitely make this recipe again. I have had a bit of an issue with meat since I was pregnant, so I didn't eat the pork chops, just the potatoes. But I had 2 servings of potatoes because they were so good. I started the crock pot on high around 1:00pm, and we ate at 7. The potatoes were cooked perfectly, as was the pork. The pork was so tender, it fell off the bone when I dished it up for my husband- and he really liked it. Check out the pic:

On that note- let me tell you about another recipe that rocked my world. I made this dessert for Father's Day to take to my in-law's. I'm pretty sure I ate most of them myself. It was the cheesecake-stuffed strawberries found here, though it looks like she originally got the recipe from here. I made these by following the recipe, and then I dipped them in white chocolate.(YUM!) Then I had to wait ALL DAY to try them as a whole (because you know I had to dip my finger into the cheesecake mixture. and the white chocolate. a couple times each. maybe more). They were totally worth the wait. Like I said before, I'm pretty sure I ate about half of them. I placed them individually in cupcake liners, because I had to transport them. It worked out great!

I am sure I will have plenty more recipes to review, because after all, I guess my husband wants to eat dinner every night (for some odd reason (; ). Like tonight, I am trying the bean chimichangas, found here. I am making them with beans and with some steak meat. That should satisfy both myself and my husband. I am making them without the Rotel and Velveeta, because I don't have those ingredients on hand, but I am using cheddar cheese soup and shredded cheddar cheese. I am confident they will turn out very well.  I will probably have to make them again using the Rotel and Velveeta. But until next time... Happy pinning!
